The Meat and Potatoes
BarCamp Miami
The first BarCamp Miami took place tonight and although I showed up late, I was still able get a little schmoozing in. Alex and Kim did a great job organzing it and I was blown away by the turnout. Here’s a few pics. I was definitely not expecting the amount of people that attended. There was easily 40 people when I arrived, and I heard that at peak time there were about 60. The highlight of the event had to be IMified. I got a chance to speak with David Hoff and I was really inspired by what he has created, and a ton of different applications for it came to mind as we were chatting. I see it really going the way of Netvibes in terms of the developer community that is sure to form. I also enjoyed hearing Caleb from uSnack. Although I caught the tail end of his presentation I was amazed at his off-beat and very enthusiastic presentation style. 76 slides in 19 minutes!
I’m really excited to see the Miami web design scene taking off. It just keeps getting better and better. I’m excited to see how far we can take it!
You never let me know about these events!!! This event looked interesting… funny thing is I had met with the owner of the Gorb company because he had contacted James (WA007) to help with the design of the site, but James (WA007) turned them down. Looks like their app is coming together.
I’ll echo your thoughts on this post.
